- grab a “go to” script for explaining your social work role
Earlier this school year I explained to my instagram friends that I developed a way to explain what I do so well that I was no longer putting out fires and wasting time on unneccesarry referrals. Then the questions poured in…
How did you explain your role as a school social worker to minimize the amount of referrals
Ah, the fun you can have as a social worker when you have respect from your colleagues and the right type of referrals!
That’s how they do it, by the way… those seasoned social workers you see that return each year and make it look easy.
It’s because they have defined their role by:
⭐️ Asking for Help from other school staff
⭐️ Working within their Strengths (the perfect referrals come their way)
⭐️ Concealing their limitations
⭐️ Getting out there & being visible
If you are ready to apply yourself in this way I am here to help. Stop sitting around and complaining that no one knows what you do. Watch along to start defining your role for yourself
ask for help, show up and work within your strength!
Before you can gain respect, you need to get clear about what you do and how you help!
